How do you change the front wheels bearings on a 2004 Grand Prix ?

I've changed the front wheel bearings on my front drive rabbit but wonder if it isn't easier on a GP. Are the bearings attached via a flange around the perimeter of the bearing ? Do they need to be pressed out and new ones pressed in ?

Thanks,How do you change the front wheels bearings on a 2004 Grand Prix ?Its a sealed hub/bearing assembly. The entire hub is replaced as a unit.

Remove the wheel and tire, remove the brake caliper and rotor, remove the CV axle nut, disconnect the ABS sensor wire, un-bolt the hub assembly from the back, attach slide hammer to front of hub assembly and whack away. Disconnecting the ball joint may give you more room to play. Installation is of course the reverse (without the slide hammer).

How do you change the front wheels bearings on a 2004 Grand Prix ?No they do not need pressed, they are a sealed bearing unit. There are retaining bolts around a flange, I believe there are three of them. Once you buy the bearings at the parts store you will see what I am talking about. It's an entire hub assembly with the bearing and lugs, etc. Take your caliper, caliper bracket, rotor, and axle nut off. The axle will will slide out of the splined hub, and then you simply unbolt it and unplug ABS if applicable. Its not hard to do at all, I've done a lot of them at work, I'm a mechanic. Good Luck! How do you change the front wheels bearings on a 2004 Grand Prix ?You'll need to take the rotor and caliper off to be sure. If there are fasteners, then you're in business, otherwise the knuckles will have to be pulled off and the old bearing pressed out at a machine shop.
